One of the big obstacles hindering our journey of discipleship is thinking that the goal of Christianity is simply to make it into heaven. The point of salvation is not merely to get us there someday — that’s our destination, and one day we’ll wake up in heaven, to our great delight. But our destination is not our destiny. Our destiny is to become like Jesus on the way. That’s called discipleship—becoming like Jesus! And our singular pre-occupation as disciples as we journey through life is to become more like him!
